Ultraviolette has launched UVLYNC, a Type 2 charging interface designed to enable electric two-wheelers to utilize AC vehicle charging stations across India. This system grants access to over 100,000 Type 2 auto chargers and more than 4,000 AC charging stations nationwide.
Compatible with Ultraviolette’s F77 motorcycle, UVLYNC addresses a significant infrastructure gap in India’s growing electric vehicle market. The company plans to extend this interface to other electric two-wheeler brands, aiming to facilitate long-distance travel by leveraging the existing network of vehicle charging stations.
Niraj Rajmohan, Ultraviolette’s co-founder and chief technology officer, stated, “This solution expands charging possibilities and fosters greater confidence in embracing electric mobility by providing a universal interface.” The initiative seeks to make UVLYNC accessible to all electric two-wheeler owners, regardless of brand.
Since the 2022 launch of the F77 electric motorcycle, Ultraviolette has established itself in India’s premium electric two-wheeler market. This move aligns with the country’s rapidly expanding electric vehicle sector, supported by various government programs and regulations promoting increased EV adoption.
The lack of extensive charging infrastructure, particularly for two-wheelers—which constitute the majority of India’s automotive market—has been a major barrier to EV adoption. By introducing this universal charging solution, Ultraviolette aims to alleviate range anxiety among potential EV customers and support the government’s goal of increasing electric vehicle usage in the coming years.
