Tata Motors Quietly Phases Out 40.5 kWh Nexon EV Variants

Tata Motors has quietly removed the 40.5 kWh battery variants of its popular Nexon EV from its lineup. This move comes after the introduction of the new 45 kWh variant in September 2024, which provides an enhanced driving range and better performance compared to the retired 40.5 kWh models.

The 40.5 kWh version of the Nexon EV offered a range of 390 km under the MIDC cycle, which is 99 km less than the 45 kWh model and 115 km more than the entry-level 30 kWh variant. The upgrade to the 45 kWh battery pack ensures improved long-distance usability and reduced charging frequency, making it a more attractive option for consumers looking for a more competitive EV in the market.

As of the most recent update, Tata Motors offers 10 different variants of the Nexon EV, catering to various customer preferences. The 30 kWh model is equipped with a motor generating 128 horsepower, while the 45 kWh models offer a more powerful 142 horsepower motor. This allows Tata to target both budget-conscious buyers and those seeking a premium EV experience.

The shift in battery offerings reflects Tata’s focus on providing a broader range of EVs with better performance and efficiency. The change also highlights the company’s efforts to refine its product lineup and ensure competitiveness in the growing Indian EV market.

Tata Motors’ decision to phase out the 40.5 kWh variant signals its commitment to providing more advanced and efficient options for its customers. This move aligns with the ongoing trend of increasing battery capacities and driving range to meet the evolving needs of electric vehicle consumers.
