BMW Group is taking significant steps towards fully electrifying its production lineup by 2027. As part of this transformation, the company is preparing its Munich plant for the launch of the NEUE KLASSE model in 2026. This marks a major milestone in BMW’s strategy to advance sustainable mobility, with the Munich facility set to become the exclusive producer of fully electric vehicles.
The construction of three new production halls is underway at the Munich plant. These facilities will be dedicated to the body shop, assembly, and production logistics, enhancing flexibility, innovation, and efficiency in line with the NEUE KLASSE’s advanced design. Peter Weber, Plant Director at BMW Group Munich, emphasized the importance of these upgrades, ensuring the plant remains at the cutting edge of automotive manufacturing.
The NEUE KLASSE is set to revolutionize BMW’s production process by introducing a new vehicle architecture designed for efficiency. This change will reduce manufacturing costs significantly, thanks to a simplified production process that eliminates variations between engine types. Additionally, the new design will use fewer parts, including wiring harnesses, further streamlining production.
BMW’s commitment to automation will also play a central role in these updates. The implementation of state-of-the-art production processes will not only improve efficiency but also enhance the overall quality of vehicles. These changes are expected to help BMW meet its ambitious electrification targets while maintaining a strong focus on sustainability.
By 2027, the Munich plant will exclusively produce electric vehicles, aligning with BMW’s broader strategy to achieve full electrification across its fleet. This shift represents a significant investment in the future of automotive manufacturing and a step forward in BMW’s sustainability goals.
The upcoming NEUE KLASSE model is expected to set new standards for electric vehicles in terms of performance, design, and efficiency. BMW’s focus on cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices underscores its commitment to shaping the future of mobility in an environmentally responsible manner.
