Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM), in collaboration with the Naari Shakti Women Welfare Charitable Trust, has announced a nationwide initiative to deploy 2,500 electric pink e-rickshaws aimed at empowering women drivers across India. This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project seeks to enhance women’s participation in the mobility sector by providing them with eco-friendly and cost-effective transportation options.
Each pink e-rickshaw is priced at ₹2,59,999 (on-road, Delhi) and is available to women drivers at a subsidized interest rate of 1%. OSM estimates that the operational cost of these electric vehicles will be approximately one-fourth that of traditional CNG auto-rickshaws, making them a financially viable option for women seeking income opportunities in urban and semi-urban areas.
The initiative aligns with India’s broader goals of promoting gender inclusivity and sustainable transportation, reflecting themes emphasized during the country’s G20 Presidency and the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations. The deployment will commence in the Delhi-NCR region, followed by expansions into Bangalore, North Karnataka, and Chennai.
To ensure the safety and convenience of women drivers, the pink e-rickshaws will be equipped with GPS tracking systems and panic alarm devices. Additionally, OSM will provide 24/7 service support through an AI-powered chatbot, assisting drivers with real-time information, maintenance scheduling, and other operational needs.
Beyond vehicle deployment, the program includes financial literacy training for participating women, aiming to foster long-term economic independence. By integrating technology, safety features, and educational support, the initiative represents a comprehensive approach to empowering women in India’s evolving electric mobility landscape.
