Vietnamese automaker VinFast has officially launched the EC Van, a compact electric cargo vehicle designed to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly urban logistics solutions. Priced at 285 million VND (approximately $10,980), the EC Van marks VinFast’s entry into the electric cargo van segment, aiming to support small businesses and delivery services in congested city environments.
The EC Van features a compact design measuring 3.8 meters in length, 1.7 meters in width, and 1.8 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.5 meters. Its small footprint and a turning radius of 5.1 meters make it well-suited for navigating narrow urban streets and rural roads. The vehicle offers a cargo space of 2,600 liters and a payload capacity of over 600 kilograms, catering to the needs of urban delivery enterprises.
Powered by a rear-axle electric motor producing 30 kW and 110 Nm of torque, the EC Van can reach a top speed of 75 km/h. It is equipped with a 17 kWh battery, supporting DC fast charging up to 19.4 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 70% in approximately 42 minutes. This setup provides a driving range suitable for daily urban delivery routes.
Safety features of the EC Van include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Traction Control System (TCS), and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS). Air conditioning is available as an optional feature. VinFast offers a standard warranty of five years or 130,000 kilometers for the vehicle and seven years or 160,000 kilometers for the battery. Customers placing orders between May 25 and May 30 will receive a discount of 10 million VND (approximately $384).
The EC Van is part of VinFast’s broader strategy to promote electric mobility in Vietnam. Earlier this year, the company introduced the EB 6 electric minibus and a range of Green-branded passenger vehicles, including the Minio hatchback and Herio and Nerio SUVs. These initiatives reflect VinFast’s commitment to providing sustainable transportation solutions across various market segments.
VinFast plans to begin customer deliveries of the EC Van in November 2025. The company anticipates that the new electric cargo van will play a significant role in reducing emissions and enhancing efficiency in urban freight transport, contributing to Vietnam’s environmental goals.
