Japanese electric vehicle manufacturer Terra Motors has introduced the KYORO+, an electric three-wheeler aimed at the passenger segment in India. This launch marks the company’s strategic move to strengthen its foothold in the country’s growing electric vehicle (EV) market. With over 1.5 lakh electric rickshaws sold in India to date, Terra Motors is now targeting the L5 category, which encompasses larger and more robust three-wheelers suitable for passenger transport.

Go Suzuki, Managing Director of Terra Motors India, stated that the company aims to capture a 5-8% share of the electric three-wheeler market, which sees annual sales of approximately 1.5 to 1.6 lakh units. To achieve this, Terra Motors plans to establish 100 dealerships across the country and increase its production capacity to around 5,000 units per month. The company’s current manufacturing facility in Manesar has an annual capacity of 5,000 to 10,000 units, which will be scaled up to meet the anticipated demand.

In addition to vehicle manufacturing, Terra Motors is expanding its EV charging infrastructure through its subsidiary, Terra Charge. The company has set a target to deploy 800 to 1,000 charging points by March next year, aiming for an annual revenue of USD 668,000. Initial charging stations have been installed in Haryana, with plans to expand to West Bengal and Maharashtra in the near future.

Terra Motors’ expansion aligns with the Indian government’s push for increased EV adoption, aiming for 30% of automobile sales to be electric by 2030. The company’s efforts in both vehicle production and charging infrastructure development are expected to contribute significantly to this goal. By offering reliable and efficient electric three-wheelers like the KYORO+, Terra Motors is positioning itself as a key player in India’s transition to sustainable mobility.

The KYORO+ is designed to meet the needs of urban commuters, offering a comfortable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional auto-rickshaws. With features tailored for the Indian market, including a durable build and efficient performance, the vehicle is expected to appeal to both drivers and passengers seeking cost-effective transportation solutions.

As Terra Motors continues to innovate and expand its presence in India, the company remains committed to supporting the country’s EV ecosystem. Through strategic partnerships, infrastructure development, and a focus on quality products, Terra Motors aims to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of electric mobility in India.
