Italian EV Brand Energica Re-Enters Indian Market
After a brief hiatus, Energica Motor Company has officially returned to the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market through a strategic collaboration with Pune-based KAW Veloce Motors. The luxury EV motorcycle brand is bringing its globally acclaimed high-performance electric superbikes back to Indian roads, aiming to tap into the growing demand for premium EVs in the country.
Launch of Flagship Models Announced
Energica’s India lineup includes three of its top-performing electric motorcycles—Ego+, Eva Ribelle, and Experia. The company claims these models combine cutting-edge performance with sustainability, offering top-tier EV technology to Indian consumers. The bikes will be sold under the “Energica India” brand with KAW Veloce Motors serving as the exclusive distributor.
First Dealership Opens in Pune
The first Energica India showroom has been inaugurated in Pune, which will serve as the central hub for nationwide sales and service operations. The company plans to expand its presence by establishing retail outlets in major Indian cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Kochi over the next 18 months.
Performance Meets Green Technology
Energica bikes are known for their high torque and top speeds, often rivaling traditional petrol superbikes. For instance, the Energica Ego+ can reach speeds up to 240 km/h and offers a range of 420 km in city conditions. These motorcycles use fast-charging technology and are built on a platform optimized for both power and range.
Strategic Vision for the Indian Market
KAW Veloce Motors CEO, Shahid O Hakim, emphasized the need to redefine premium motorcycling in India with sustainable alternatives. “We are here to lead the shift from conventional high-end ICE bikes to electric superbikes that deliver performance without emissions,” he stated during the Pune launch.
India’s Premium EV Segment Heats Up
Energica’s re-entry marks a significant move in India’s evolving EV landscape, particularly in the premium two-wheeler space. As the market matures, the brand is looking to create a strong ecosystem of luxury, performance, and green mobility, potentially setting new benchmarks for electric superbikes in the country.
