Mahindra has inaugurated its Charge_IN ultra-fast electric vehicle charging network in India, marking a significant development in the country’s EV infrastructure landscape. The network uses 180 kW dual-gun chargers aimed at reducing long-distance charging times and supporting widespread electric vehicle use.

The company has announced plans to deploy 250 charging stations nationwide by the end of 2027, with a target of more than 1,000 high-speed charging points along key highways and high-traffic locations. This initiative aligns with national efforts to strengthen public EV charging infrastructure and reduce range anxiety among drivers.

Mahindra has already commissioned the first two Charge_IN stations at strategic highway locations, including Hoskote on National Highway 75 near Bengaluru and Murthal on National Highway 44 near Delhi. Each site features two ultra-fast 180 kW chargers capable of simultaneously servicing up to four electric vehicles.

The new charging network is designed to serve all brands of electric vehicles, not just Mahindra models, with access facilitated through the Charge_IN by Mahindra app as well as other leading charging aggregator platforms, enhancing convenience for EV users nationwide.

Company executives noted that the network’s high-power chargers can rapidly replenish batteries — for example, bringing many electric cars from 20 per cent to 80 per cent charge in around 20 minutes, making longer journeys more practical and reducing downtime on major routes.

In addition to serving long-distance travel needs, Charge_IN stations are planned to be co-located with traveler amenities such as rest stops, cafes, and restaurants. This strategy aims to offer EV drivers comfortable waiting areas while their vehicles charge, further boosting the appeal of electric mobility across India’s road network.
