India’s automotive security technology took centre stage in New Delhi today, as the International Police Expo 2026 unveiled the nation’s most advanced armoured vehicles, AI-driven anti-drone patrol vehicles, and VIP convoy innovations. The indigenous Light Armoured Multi-Purpose Vehicle (LAMV) by Armoured Vehicles Nigam was among the headline attractions. Designed to meet the demanding requirements of India’s police, paramilitary, and internal security agencies, the LAMV combines a modular 4×4 platform with advanced ballistic protection and high mobility. Its flexibility allows configurations for troop transport, urban warfare, reconnaissance, and VIP convoy protection, making it a versatile solution for a wide range of operational scenarios. The LAMV’s robust construction, adaptable design, and state-of-the-art onboard systems drew significant attention from both Indian and international delegates, positioning it as a new benchmark in internal security vehicle technology.
In the realm of rapid response and emergency medical support, the DRDO-CRPF-developed Rakshita motorbike ambulance stood out for its unique ability to deliver swift medical intervention in areas inaccessible to standard ambulances. Designed for agility and speed, Rakshita is equipped with a compact stretcher and essential medical equipment, allowing first responders to reach casualties quickly in dense urban environments, remote locations, or during natural disasters. This innovation exemplifies India’s commitment to enhancing the effectiveness and reach of its frontline emergency services through automotive ingenuity.
On the cutting edge of airspace security, Indrajaal Drone Defence debuted India’s first AI-powered Anti-Drone Patrol Vehicle (ADPV). This fully autonomous platform leverages artificial intelligence to detect, track, and neutralise drone threats while on the move. Unlike static anti-drone systems, the ADPV can patrol sensitive zones, react instantly to unauthorised drone activity, and adapt its interception strategies based on real-time threat analysis. Its mobile, data-driven approach is designed to counter the rapidly evolving risks posed by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in both urban and rural settings. The ADPV’s unveiling marks a significant step forward for India’s ability to secure critical infrastructure, public events, and VIP movements against aerial threats.
Among the standout drone defence technologies was the Varaha Counter Drone System, showcased by SSS Defence. Varaha is India’s first coherence-based acoustic drone detector. Instead of relying solely on radio frequencies, Varaha uses an array of microphones to passively detect and pinpoint drones, including those silent to radar or RF-based defences by recognising their unique propeller sounds. With the capability to identify micro-drones at 500 meters and larger UAVs at several kilometres, the Varaha system represents a leap in passive drone threat detection and protection for sensitive sites and convoys.
The expo also featured international advancements such as Russian manufacturer Kalashnikov’s Garuda (SKAT 350 M) UAV, which set a Guinness World Record by reaching an altitude of 9,500 meters during Himalayan trials. Engineered for extreme environments, resilience, and resistance to electronic jamming, the Garuda UAV highlights the global dimension of drone innovation at the event.
A major highlight for VIP and convoy protection was the introduction of indigenous RF Jamming solutions by Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), a premier Government of India enterprise under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and operating directly under the Prime Minister’s Office. ECIL’s advanced jammers, available in vehicle-mounted, convoy, and cell phone configurations, are designed to disrupt a wide spectrum of frequencies, including HF, VHF, UHF, cellular (2G–5G), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and drone bands. These systems are already widely deployed by State Police, paramilitary, and defence forces, providing robust electronic security for convoys, VIP movements, and high-security zones.
This year’s International Police Expo underscores India’s ascent as a leader in automotive security and AI-powered defence technologies. The event demonstrates how homegrown innovation, combined with international expertise, is driving a new era of mobility, survivability, and smart protection for the nation’s internal security forces.
