Olectra Greentech has become the first company in India to deploy 4,000 electric buses on public roads, marking a significant milestone in the country’s electric mobility journey. The achievement reflects the company’s growing presence in the electric public transportation segment and its contribution to the adoption of sustainable mobility solutions.
The milestone was commemorated with the delivery of Olectra’s 4,000th electric bus to the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC). The handover took place during the inauguration of 297 Olectra electric buses in Shimla, in the presence of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, and other senior government officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Olectra Greentech Managing Director K.V. Pradeep (Mahesh) Babu described the achievement as a landmark moment for both the company and India’s electric mobility sector. He said the deployment of 4,000 electric buses demonstrates Olectra’s commitment to supporting cleaner and more sustainable public transportation across the country.
Since entering the electric bus segment, Olectra has steadily expanded its footprint by supplying buses to several state transport undertakings across India. The company’s electric buses are currently operating in multiple states, supporting the transition towards zero-emission public transport and strengthening India’s clean mobility ecosystem.
The deployment of 4,000 electric buses highlights the increasing adoption of electric public transportation by state transport corporations. It also reflects the growing confidence of public transport operators in electric mobility as governments continue to modernize their bus fleets with environmentally friendly alternatives.
With this latest milestone, Olectra has set a new benchmark in India’s electric commercial vehicle industry. The company aims to continue supporting the country’s shift towards sustainable transportation by expanding its electric bus operations and partnering with transport authorities to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility.
