Greenvolt Power has commissioned a 200 MW / 800 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Turośń Kościelna, Poland, marking a major milestone in the country’s energy storage development. The project is one of the largest operational battery energy storage facilities in Poland and reinforces Greenvolt Power’s commitment to supporting Europe’s clean energy transition.
The newly commissioned BESS has a storage capacity of 800 MWh, enabling it to store surplus electricity generated from renewable energy sources and deliver power back to the grid when demand increases. The facility is expected to improve grid flexibility, strengthen energy security, and support the growing integration of renewable energy across Poland.
The project forms part of Greenvolt Power’s expanding battery energy storage portfolio in Poland. Earlier, the company partnered with BYD Energy Storage for the supply of battery systems for the Turośń Kościelna and Nowa Wieś Ełcka projects, each with a capacity of 200 MW / 800 MWh, highlighting its long-term investment strategy in the country’s energy storage sector.
Battery Energy Storage Systems are becoming increasingly important as Poland accelerates the deployment of renewable energy. Large-scale storage projects help balance electricity supply and demand, enhance grid reliability, and ensure renewable power can be used more efficiently during periods of fluctuating generation.
Greenvolt Power continues to expand its presence in Europe’s utility-scale energy storage market through strategic investments in advanced battery infrastructure. The company is also developing the 600 MW / 2.4 GWh Siedlce BESS project, which is expected to become Poland’s largest battery energy storage facility once completed.
With the successful commissioning of the 200 MW / 800 MWh facility, Greenvolt Power has strengthened its position as a leading developer of large-scale energy storage projects. The project is expected to play an important role in improving grid resilience while supporting Poland’s transition toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy system.
