SWITCH Mobility has secured a major order to supply 650 electric buses to Sai Green Projects for deployment in Mumbai and Pune under the Government of India’s PM E-Drive Phase II initiative. The project is aimed at accelerating the adoption of zero-emission public transport while strengthening sustainable urban mobility across Maharashtra.
The order includes the supply of 9-metre electric buses under the CESL PM E-Drive Phase II tender. Sai Green Projects has been selected as the operating partner, while the fleet will comprise both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned buses. These vehicles will be deployed with Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) in Mumbai and Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) in Pune.
Commenting on the development, Ganesh Mani, CEO of SWITCH Mobility, said the order marks an important step in supporting India’s clean mobility goals. According to him, the deployment of the new electric buses will contribute to cleaner urban mobility while improving the daily commuting experience for passengers travelling in Mumbai and Pune.
The latest contract further strengthens SWITCH Mobility’s position in India’s growing electric bus market and supports the Government’s efforts to expand green public transport under the PM E-Drive Phase II programme. With large-scale deployments planned in Maharashtra, the project is expected to play a significant role in reducing emissions and encouraging wider adoption of electric buses across Indian cities.
