Vikram Solar has announced a major expansion plan valued at $1.9 billion (approximately ₹15,000 crore), marking a significant step in its long-term clean energy growth strategy. As part of the investment, the company will establish a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, expanding its presence beyond solar manufacturing and strengthening India’s domestic energy storage capabilities.
The expansion will be carried out at SIPCOT Industrial Park in Gangaikondan, Tirunelveli district, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu. The new facility is expected to support India’s growing renewable energy sector by enabling local production of battery storage systems that are essential for integrating solar and wind power into the electricity grid.
According to Vikram Solar, the investment reflects the company’s commitment to supporting India’s clean energy transition while enhancing domestic manufacturing.
