Ducati has launched its limited-edition Formula 73 motorcycle in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹20 lakh. The café racer-inspired motorcycle pays tribute to the Ducati 750 Super Sport Desmo from 1973. Production is limited to 873 numbered units worldwide, and all motorcycles allocated for the Indian market have already been booked.

The Formula 73 draws inspiration from the 750 Super Sport Desmo, Ducati’s first road motorcycle equipped with a desmodromic valve timing system. The historic model was based on the 750 Imola Desmo, which Paul Smart and Bruno Spaggiari rode to victory at the 1972 200 Miglia di Imola race. The new motorcycle brings design elements inspired by Ducati’s racing heritage into a modern limited-edition model.

The Ducati Formula 73 is powered by an 803cc, air-cooled, L-twin Desmodue engine with desmodromic valve actuation. The engine produces 73 hp at 8,250 rpm and 65.2 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. It is paired with a Termignoni exhaust system developed specifically for the motorcycle.

The motorcycle features a steel trellis frame, a 41mm KYB upside-down front fork and a preload-adjustable KYB rear monoshock. It weighs 183 kg without fuel and rides on 17-inch spoked wheels fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres. The braking system includes a Brembo four-piston radial front calliper and a 330mm front disc.

The Formula 73 features silver and aqua-green bodywork with a vertical gold stripe on the fuel tank, inspired by the original Imola racing motorcycle. Its café racer styling includes clip-on handlebars, bar-end mirrors and a short front fairing. The motorcycle also comes with cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Quick Shift, two riding modes, a 4.3-inch TFT display and full-LED lighting.

Each Ducati Formula 73 carries an individual serial number on its steering plate and comes with a certificate of authenticity. The package also includes a presentation box containing historical photographs and design sketches from the Ducati Style Centre. With the Indian allocation already fully booked, the limited-edition motorcycle is no longer available for fresh bookings through the announced allocation.
