Energea, a US-based investment platform managing energy infrastructure portfolios, has announced plans to expand its US investment portfolio beyond solar energy into electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Energea Portfolio 4 USA LP has committed up to $20 million to finance the development of EV charging stations in the United States.

The portfolio’s first transaction is a $10 million credit facility for ChargedEV, a developer and owner of Tesla V4 Supercharger stations. The initial drawdown under the facility is secured by two operating charging stations in Georgia. The funding is intended to support the expansion of ChargedEV’s portfolio across the southeastern United States.

The financing arrangement includes monthly payments, a fixed interest rate and seven-year amortisation for each drawdown following a short interest-only period. It also includes a first-priority secured interest in the charging station assets and an option for Energea Portfolio 4 USA LP to acquire a minority equity interest in the assets at a future date.

Energea said the investment reflects its strategy of expanding into broader energy infrastructure assets. Mike Silvestrini, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Energea, highlighted population growth in the southeastern United States and the need for additional infrastructure, including EV charging stations. The company sees EV charging as an investment opportunity associated with recurring, energy-based revenue.

Energea is also negotiating a similar financing arrangement with a second charging station developer. The company intends to pursue further investments with additional EV charging station development companies across the United States, extending its investment activity into charging infrastructure.

Chris Sattler, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Energea, said investments secured by operating energy infrastructure are a natural extension of the company’s established investment approach. Energea connects individual investors with energy infrastructure assets worldwide and manages portfolios covering US energy infrastructure, Latin American energy, Solarize Africa and community solar in Brazil.
