Paar Autonomy, a Bengaluru-based defence technology company, has raised over ₹10 crore in a seed round led by AdvantEdge Founders.
Paar builds the part of an autonomous unmanned system that sees and decides; its gyro-stabilised, multi-sensor payloads give a platform day and night vision, and its on-board AI lets the platform navigate and complete a mission when GPS and the link to its operator are jammed. Indian drone makers currently source most of this capability from foreign vendors.
Vignesh Sivaram Jayaraman, Founder and CEO of Paar Autonomy, noted: “Modern warfare shows that hardware airframes are moving towards low-cost commodities. The real differentiator rests in an unmanned system’s perception and its capacity to execute missions autonomously amid heavy GPS interference and severed communications. Domestic platforms are capable, yet they depend heavily on foreign intelligence and vision architecture. Paar was founded to build and own this critical stack locally, delivering a world-class solution driven purely by technical excellence.”
Built on a unified hardware and software architecture across all platform scales, Paar offers a cohesive product suite:
- Sentinel: A line of gimballed electro-optic and infrared payloads, ranging from ultra-lightweight cameras under 55g for FPV drones to 40x-zoom day/night systems for loitering munitions and tactical drones.
- NorthStar: A visual navigation module enabling reliable, GPS-independent trajectory and course holding.
- On-Board AI Stack: Powered by vision-language models and small language models trained on proprietary aerial dataset, allowing platforms to translate plain-language mission parameters into direct actions offline.
Paar exercises full control over its technological base by owning its gimbals, electronics design, and software source code in-house. This end-to-end IP ownership guarantees true sovereign security and independence, completely fulfilling India’s Defence Acquisition Procedure 2026 mandates for Indian-designed, developed, and manufactured IP across source code, circuit layouts, and design documentation.
Engineered for Electronic Warfare & Contested Environments
Modern electronic warfare increasingly severs operator links and disrupts GPS signals, making on-board autonomy essential. With recent advances in edge computing, running real-time computer vision and language models locally under tight power and weight constraints has become achievable. Paar provides these integrated capabilities within India, enabling domestic manufacturers to source, certify, and service critical technology locally.
Kunal Khattar, Founder and Managing Partner of AdvantEdge Founders, remarked: “Unmanned systems’ have shifted the value share from hardware to payloads, software, and autonomous execution, and succeeding requires owning the full stack. Vignesh’s background leading product at Asteria Aerospace and Bossa Nova gives him rare insight into the structure and gaps in the current value chain, and into the products and the high-value tech stack that India urgently needs. By indigenising this capability, Paar Autonomy not only secures local supply chains but also unlocks a massive global opportunity.”
Built for contested conditions
Because electronic warfare regularly jams GPS and cuts operator communications, on-board autonomy has turned into a fundamental requirement. Modern edge computers can run real-time vision algorithms and small language models within strict payload weight and power budgets. Paar was established to bring these capabilities together into a single solution that Indian manufacturers can procure, maintain, and certify domestically.
Traction
Paar partners with platform manufacturers and systems integrators across aerial, naval, and terrestrial domains, who incorporate its payloads into their defence offerings. The company is actively advancing strategic engagements across several key programmes and customer accounts.
Use of funds
This capital injection will support scaling Paar’s aerial payloads into serial production, establishing a dedicated manufacturing and testing facility in Bengaluru, and completing field validation for the NorthStar system.
