Godrej and Boyce have introduced lithium-ion battery-powered forklifts with an inside developed Battery Management System (BMS). The new battery systems, developed in partnership with Log9 Materials, combine 30% locally made lithium-ion cells with a patented Battery Management System (BMS) that is fully designed and built in India.
The company’s goal is to have all of the cells locally identifiable by the following year. The solution satisfies a critical need in India’s material handling sector by providing a safe and independent Li-Ion battery system. This type of item is apparently being produced for the first time by the Indian producer.
The goal of the company is to apply this technology to more material handling machinery. Automotive, FMCG, consumer durables, retail, including e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, and other significant manufacturing sectors are among the industries expected to profit.
