41,371 EVs were sold in the nation between January and July, a startling 159 percent rise from the same period last year.
In the local market, Togg’s T10X model was the best-selling electric vehicle. 14,248 automobiles were delivered by the domestic automaker between January and July. Ssang Yong came in first at 1,671 and Tesla came in second at 2,597.
However, with 1.1 million units, EV sales in Europe were essentially constant from the first eight months of 2023.
With 215,000 vehicles sold annually, the EV market shrank by more than 20 percent in Germany, while sales of 57,951 vehicles decreased by 5.6 percent in Norway.
Turkey ranked sixth in Europe in the hybrid market with sales of 77,641, up 47.3 percent from January to July of the previous year.
With 429,000 sales, Germany took first place, followed by the United Kingdom with 405,622.
In the first seven months of 2024, passenger automobile sales in Turkey increased by 3.4 percent to 536,000 units. Due to the EFTA region and the United Kingdom, Turkey is now the sixth-largest market in Europe.
Sales of passenger cars increased by 3.9 percent to 7.9 million units in European countries last year.
“Western sales decreased by about 20 percent in August,” stated Siyon Karmona, general manager of Vosmer Otomotiv.
Karmona anticipates that after October, sales will pick up speed since businesses will be launching promotions around the end of the year, which will increase sales.
