Volkswagen Group Charging GmbH (Elli) has demonstrated its most current advancement in sustainable charging solutions with the launch of the Elli Charger 2, the first smart charger in Europe. Using an inventive blend of cost-effective and solar surplus, the Elli Charger 2 allows electric cars (EVs) to be charged during the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly times. It is designed to work with solar power systems found in homes.
The Elli Charger 2 maximizes the use of renewable energy by charging electric cars (EVs) when solar power is plentiful or the price of electricity is low, thanks to clever technology. For households looking to improve their energy use, this is a significant step forward as it reduces costs and dependence on grid electricity.
Giovanni Palazzo, CEO of Elli and SVP of Volkswagen Charging & Energy, emphasized the innovation’s importance by saying, “Our new charger helps make charging electric cars even more environmentally friendly by ensuring that EVs are charged when green electricity is readily available and cheap.” Additionally, a framework for utilizing EVs as energy storage to assist in stabilizing the power system is being created.
In order to further integrate renewable energy into households, Elli has partnered with Otovo, a solar electricity marketplace located in Norway. German consumers can now purchase an entire solar power system in addition to the Elli Charger 2, with installations offered at select Volkswagen dealerships in Hamburg, Ulm, and Augsburg. The collaboration is a part of a pilot project that will shortly extend across Europe.
