JLR has established its newest Open Innovation Hub in India to collaborate closely with entrepreneurs to develop the next generation of products and services. Building on the success of the company’s current innovation centers in the US, UK, Israel, and Brazil, the India Hub will focus on deep tech, including artificial intelligence, big data and analytics, the internet of things, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), sensors, and gadgets.
Developed in partnership with Plug and Play, a corporate innovation platform and investor, the Hub will bring together industry, government, academia, and other stakeholders. They will discuss and develop industry-leading solutions for JLR, such as providing more advanced ADAS, identifying the ideal locations for infrastructure for charging, and optimizing batteries for electric powertrains.
The new Hub is the seventh to open since JLR’s Open Innovation Programme began in April 2022. The program has reached out to over 2,500 start-ups globally, resulting in 33 formal collaborations to date.
“India is the perfect place for the newest Innovation Hub because of its rapidly growing startup sector, as well as JLR’s established presence and close ties to the Tata Group,” said Igor Murakami, Innovation Director at JLR. JLR’s technical teams will be able to innovate more quickly to support vehicle design and features and improve customer experiences thanks to the construction of a hub in India. Through global cooperation, JLR’s Open Innovation Programme is giving us access to the next generation of people and technology.
