Important supply agreements have been signed by LG Energy Solution to power Ford Motor Company’s next generation of electrified commercial vans across Europe. Starting in 2026, LG Energy Solution will supply Ford with 109 GWh of battery capacity under agreements with terms varying from four to six years.
The partnership seeks to ensure a steady supply of innovative battery solutions intended for commercial usage by bolstering Ford’s electrification efforts in the European market. These batteries, which are designed to withstand the rigorous demands of commercial operation, enhance the performance and range of Ford’s electric vehicles.
In addition to the European supply arrangement, the companies announced a change in the battery production location for the current Ford Mustang Mach-E. Production will move to LG Energy Solution’s Michigan facility in 2025 from its Polish location. By utilizing favorable market conditions, such as the incentives provided by the US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), this strategic decision aims to boost business efficiency.
“These agreements attest to our experience and expertise in powering commercial vehicles with innovative battery technologies designed to handle extreme user environments,” stated David Kim, CEO of LG Energy Solution. We will take the lead in the European market and offer our clients unmatched value by deploying state-of-the-art battery technologies that effectively address a range of needs by utilizing our local production capacity.
