A long-term partnership for its battery management systems has been signed by Mumbai-based Maxwell Energy Systems and Hero Electric, one of India’s top manufacturers of electric vehicles (BMS).
In accordance with this partnership, Maxwell will provide more than a million BMS units over the following three years to Hero Electric in order to support the company’s strategy of rapid expansion and continued market dominance.
The battery pack’s “brain” or “BMS,” as it is also known, is in charge of ensuring that the battery operates within its Safe Operating Area (SoA) to maximize performance and lifespan.
For the entire Hero Electric e2W range, Maxwell’s newly created automobiles BMS offers a variety of chemistries and configurations. It makes use of proprietary algorithms that Maxwell has developed and improved over the last five years for precise state estimations, including SoC, SoH, SoP, and SoE. It also has additional technical features like hot-plugging and high-side switching for seamless swapping. Hero Electric and Maxwell will also collaborate on a cutting-edge new line of electronics products for the Indian EV market.
As per Sohinder Gill, CEO of Hero Electric, “India’s vast temperature fluctuations necessarily require safe, trustable, and rising electric vehicles. Among the most important features of EVs is their battery management system, which guarantees safe operation, battery longevity, and range for the lowest possible price and warranty for a hassle-free ownership experience. Additionally reducing our reliance on imports, this partnership will assist us in creating a local supply chain and supporting the Make in India initiative. We now have 2 dependable, solid partners to help us future-proof our battery designs with Maxwell on board.
