Honda Motor Co. Ltd. will be the official global sponsor of the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 2025 (WCH Tokyo 25) in a historic partnership with World Athletics. For the first time in its history, Honda will support the renowned tournament by donating a fleet of electric vehicles. The event will be held from September 13–21, 2025, at Tokyo’s National Stadium.
More than 200 countries send athletes to compete in the World Athletics Championships, the world’s premier track and field event. Honda promised that its electric vehicles will transport athletes, officials, and referees during marathon races. This project is in line with Honda and World Athletics’ shared commitment to environmentally friendly solutions and aids the event in achieving its sustainability goals by reducing its environmental effect.
Honda Global CEO Toshihiro Mibe expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “We will use environmentally friendly Honda products and technologies to help lessen the event’s environmental impact.” Honda has a strong desire to support those who are conquering challenges in order to realize their dreams.
With the words, “This collaboration unites two organizations with a common goal of building a better future for future generations,” World Athletics president Sebastian Coe also complimented Honda’s sponsorship. Honda’s contribution of electric vehicles will lessen the adverse environmental consequences of our event and advance our sustainability objectives.
Tokyo hosted the championships in 1991, and this will be the third time they are held in Japan. Honda’s involvement exemplifies its broader objective of promoting environmental stewardship while supporting and inspiring individuals to pursue their goals via athletics.
