In order to consistently encourage and support eco-friendly transportation across the state, the Uttar Pradesh government intends to establish a robust network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

Uttar Pradesh Renewable and EV Infrastructure Limited (UPREV), a designated corporation dedicated to boosting the usage of electric vehicles and creating charging infrastructure throughout the state, will handle the project.

The vast network of EV charging stations will facilitate the transition to electric vehicles, the newspaper reported on Sunday, citing officials. This initiative supports Uttar Pradesh’s transition to a greener, more energy-efficient future while also aligning with the state’s goal of reducing carbon emissions.

The state government has developed a plan to install EV charging stations across Uttar Pradesh, the report said.

Additionally, UPREV plans to set up charging stations in key cities, metropolitan areas, and along major roads. A Public-Private Partnership (PPP) strategy would be used in the proposal, which will encourage private investment and quicken the development of infrastructure.

According to officials, EV charging stations will be erected in distribution company (discom) offices, substations, and public spaces if state government land becomes available for these stations in collaboration with other government organizations.

In cooperation with other government agencies, officials said that if state government land becomes available for EV charging stations, they will be installed in public areas, substations, and distribution company (discom) offices.

More people will utilize electric vehicles as a result of this move, which will lower the cost of EV charging for car owners. It is anticipated that the government’s emphasis on providing better EV charging rates would increase both the number of EV users in the state and the use of green energy in transportation.

Additionally, UPREV has obtained a Rs 2,000 crore subsidy under the Pradhan Mantri E-Drive Yojana in partnership with the national government to construct a network of charging stations.

In an effort to reduce carbon emissions and encourage self-reliance in transportation, the update aims to make Uttar Pradesh a key hub for electric vehicles.
