One of the largest independent fusion energy companies in the world TAE Technologies has established a new division called TAE Power Solutions. The newly formed business will be dedicated to bringing ground-breaking technology to market that will significantly increase the dependability, effectiveness, longevity, and affordability of electric-powered goods, from vehicles to renewable energy storage.
According to reports, the proprietary technology platform was inspired by fusion research. It is an important step toward the widespread adoption of electric vehicles and the use of intermittent renewable energy sources as dispatchable power.
CEO Kedar Munipella, who joins Applied Materials, a Fortune 200 company where he spent 16 years, will be in charge of TAE Power Solutions. He most recently served as VP and General Manager of a business unit focused on energy and environmental solutions.
In order to strengthen its entry into new markets, TAE Power Solutions has also made two strategic acquisitions in the UK: Sprint Power, one of Europe’s largest transport electrification specialists with a focus on electrical systems integration and high voltage driveline, and Eltrium, a design and manufacturing firm with a focus on the creation of energy storage systems, power distribution, and electronic assemblies.
TAE Power Solutions will gain an early advantage in ongoing projects, such as APC18 CELERITAS, a program for advanced battery systems with BMW and other project partners.
