In the presence of Shri Ashim Kumar Bose, Member, Mayor-in-Council, West Bengal Urban Employment Scheme Kolkat Municipal Corporation, and other dignitaries, Yulu began offering its services in Kolkata, West Bengal. With Yulu’s help, Electrie, a business started by Soham Misra, a city-based businessman, will spread Yulu’s full-stack mobility ecosystem throughout the city, including its DeX GR electric cars (EVs) and state-of-the-art technological platform.
Through its franchise partner program, Yulu Business Partner (YBP), the company is taking its first steps in Eastern India with the debut of Yulu’s thirteenth market. Similar partner-led businesses are active in Vadodara, Pondicherry, Tirunelveli, Kochi, and Indore. Yulu Dex EVs will be installed at strategic locations throughout Kolkata, including Topsia, Ballygunge, Park Street, and Jadavpur, by Electrie, a cutting-edge energy and mobility company.
Kolkata is the perfect location for Yulu’s goods mobility service because of its congested metropolitan structure, rising demand for e-commerce and speedy delivery, and environmentally sensitive population. Over the next six months, Electrie hopes to recruit about 1,000 delivery riders who work for companies like Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit, Zepto, and Amazon as part of its mission to build a clean mobility ecosystem for the city’s businesses.
“Kolkata’s dynamic growth and growing emphasis on sustainability make it a perfect fit for Yulu’s eco-friendly shared electric mobility platform,” stated Amit Gupta, co-founder and CEO of Yulu. We are excited to announce Yulu and Electrie’s collaboration. We are also thrilled to collaborate with Soham Misra, whose in-depth knowledge of the market and desire to spearhead a sustainable transportation revolution will allow Yulu to expedite the EV transition in Kolkata and the surrounding area in due time.
Soham Misra, the founder of Electrie, commented on the collaboration, saying, “We are thrilled to work with Yulu to launch this cutting-edge and environmentally friendly products movement service in Kolkata. Electrie wants to be the biggest supplier of battery-operated vehicle last-mile deliveries, sales, operations, and maintenance services in East India. By working together, we hope to accelerate the region’s adoption of EVs for Mobility as a Service (MaaS), assist business partners in lowering their carbon footprints, and help create a cleaner, greener, and pollution-free India.
The fact that Yulu has more than 45,000 shared EVs on Indian roads is evidence that its technology-powered mobility platform has found a great product-market fit for e-commerce delivery apps and speedy commerce. The platform boosts vehicle uptime and rider efficiency while reducing delivery costs for brands by 30–40% by doing away with gasoline and maintenance. Additionally, Yulu offers delivery riders a cost-effective and efficient mode of transportation, opening up sustainable employment opportunities for thousands of gig workers nationwide.
