An MoU has been inscribed between Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT) and Piaggio India for the evolution and dispatch of lithium-ion cells, battery packs, and chargers.
Aside from developing cells and battery packs for Amara Raja’s upcoming products, which will be produced in the company’s Gigafactory in Divitipally, Telangana, ARACT and Piaggio India will collaborate on this agreement’s terms in order to develop and supply Lithium Iron Phosphate (Li-ion) cells and chargers for Amara Raja electrical vehicles.
Since 2020, ARACT and Piaggio India have collaborated. The press statement states that Amara Raja has built and supplied EV chargers and 50,000 NMC Li-ion battery packs to Piaggio India alone. These products have a combined mileage of more than 120 crore km.
Amara Raja has signed a contract with Gotion-InoBat-Batteries (GIB) that will enable it to localize the most recent worldwide LFP technology in order to create lithium-ion cells that are especially appropriate for Indian conditions. Additionally, Jiangsu Highstar Battery Manufacturing Co. and the corporation have an agreement about NMC technology.
“At Amara Raja, we have significantly progressed in our efforts to build world-class facilities to manufacture cell and battery packs customized for Indian conditions,” stated Vikramaditya Gourineni, Executive Director, ARACT Ltd. Our latest partnership with Gotion-InoBat will expedite our endeavors in that direction. We are working with Piaggio to develop goods and services that will both revolutionize and indigenize the nation’s EV market.
“Amara Raja and Piaggio India have a long-standing mutually beneficial partnership and I am happy to strengthen it further with the MoU we have signed today,” stated Diego Graffi, Chairman and Managing Director of Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. As India transforms to electric mobility, we are optimistic that we will continue on our successful EV adventure with Amara Raja.
