Arrow Electronics has said that it will assist SAVART Motors, a domestic EV manufacturer in Indonesia, in creating safe, high-quality, and reasonably priced electric scooters. By the second quarter of 2025, the first hundreds of SAVART electric scooters should be on the road.

The third-largest motorbike market in the world is found in Indonesia. The emissions from motorcycles, which number close to 130 million on the road1, have a major effect on air quality and fuel climate change. By 20302, Indonesia hopes to have 13 million electric two-wheelers on the road, lowering air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions while encouraging environmentally responsible transportation.

Encouraging domestic EV startups to propel e-mobility and electrification

Electric scooters from SAVART Motors are painstakingly designed from the bottom up, combining performance and aesthetics to perfectly fit local market demands, riding culture, and road conditions. Most electrical and mechanical components are created internally by a group of bright and committed engineers who are graduates of top Indonesian universities, with a strong emphasis on quality, safety, comfort, and R&D excellence.

We at SAVART Motors are proud to have designed and built nearly all of our electric vehicles in-house, helping to electrify Indonesia’s transportation. The CEO of SAVART Motors, William E. Taifan, PhD, stated, “We recently reached a significant milestone with a 74.27% TKDN verification, which measures the domestic component level in goods and services produced in Indonesia.”

Improving design to increase manufacturing capabilities

“Transportation is being fundamentally transformed by electrification and AI-powered technologies,” stated Dr. Raphael Salmi, president of Arrow Electronics’ components business for South Asia, Korea, and Japan.”We are thrilled to offer SAVART Motors the fundamental engineering skills and supply chain support they require in order to produce EVs that not only put safety, comfort, and use first but also satisfy the demands of Indonesian riders. We are in a strong position to be their go-to technology supplier as they continue to transform sustainable e-mobility in Indonesia and beyond by providing a wide range of technology, such as automotive-grade silicon carbide MOSFETs, microprocessors, sensors, and smart IoT connectivity modules”.

Arrow has obtained and supplied a significant amount of the electronic components used in SAVART Motors’ most recent model. Arrow has offered engineering support and direction on system integration, including adaptive user interfaces, smart vehicle control units, AI-based user profiling, keyless and fingerprint security access, and smart battery management systems, in addition to assisting SAVART Motors with its internal research and development activities.
