Bengaluru-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Ather Energy is set to expand its product portfolio by venturing into the electric motorcycle segment, targeting the 125–300cc category. This move aims to diversify the company’s offerings beyond its current electric scooter lineup and cater to a broader range of consumers. The upcoming electric motorcycle is expected to be built on a new platform named “Zenith,” designed to support performance-oriented e-bikes in this segment.

The Zenith platform is part of Ather’s broader strategy to develop two new EV platforms, the other being “EL,” which focuses on creating affordable electric scooters. These platforms will underpin Ather’s future products, enabling the company to address various market segments and consumer needs. The development of these platforms is also aligned with Ather’s plans to utilize funds from its ₹3,100 crore initial public offering (IPO) to build a new manufacturing facility in Maharashtra.

Ather’s upcoming manufacturing plant in Bidkin, Aurangabad Industrial City, Maharashtra, is expected to become operational within 18 months. This facility will be the company’s third production unit and is projected to produce up to 1 million units of vehicles and battery packs annually. The expansion aims to support Ather’s growing product lineup and meet increasing demand in both domestic and international markets.

In addition to its domestic growth, Ather is exploring opportunities in international markets, including Southeast Asia, Europe, and Latin America. The company has already initiated exports to Nepal and plans to expand its global footprint in the coming years. This international expansion is part of Ather’s strategy to become a significant player in the global EV market.

Ather Energy’s entry into the electric motorcycle segment and its ongoing expansion efforts reflect the company’s commitment to innovation and growth in the EV industry. By diversifying its product offerings and investing in new technologies and facilities, Ather aims to strengthen its position in the competitive electric two-wheeler market.
