In a major step towards electrification, German luxury carmaker Audi has inaugurated its second fast-charging hub in Tokyo, reinforcing its commitment to building a global premium charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
The Tokyo hub marks Audi’s continued push into Asia, following the success of its earlier charging facilities in Europe. Strategically located in a high-traffic urban area, the new site offers ultra-fast DC charging capabilities, making EV recharging significantly quicker and more accessible for Audi owners and other EV drivers.
Equipped with multiple high-power charging stations, the hub is designed to support vehicles with 800-volt architecture, enabling rapid charging times. Audi claims the stations can deliver up to 320 kW of power, allowing compatible vehicles to recharge from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes.
Beyond technical performance, the Tokyo hub reflects Audi’s focus on user experience. The facility offers a lounge area where drivers can relax, work, or enjoy refreshments while their vehicles charge, blending luxury with sustainability — a hallmark of Audi’s electrification strategy.
This move is part of the carmaker’s broader plan to establish a network of fast-charging hubs in key global markets. Audi aims to address the growing need for reliable, high-speed EV infrastructure as it transitions to a fully electric lineup by 2033.
With Japan’s EV market steadily gaining momentum, Audi’s Tokyo hub is expected to bolster confidence among premium EV buyers while encouraging broader adoption of electric mobility in the region.
