Battery Smart has partnered with Zepto to provide delivery agents access to over 1,000 EV charging stations. This collaboration aims to enhance the convenience and efficiency of electric vehicle charging for the delivery workforce.
Battery Smart announced its collaboration with e-commerce service Zepto on Monday. This alliance will enable Zepto delivery partners to access over 1000 battery swapping stations of Battery Smart in more than 30 Indian cities. Additionally, this will enable Zepto to integrate 10,000 new electric vehicles into its fleet during the fiscal year 2024-25.
Battery Smart and Zepto aim to facilitate electric vehicle adoption for delivery partners through this strategic partnership. They are offering EVs without batteries, using Battery Smart’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model for cost savings. This will boost affordability and accessibility, aiding delivery services’ shift to sustainable transportation options.
Battery Smart asserted in an official statement that their solution will ensure timely deliveries and prevent revenue loss for Zepto’s delivery partners by eliminating charging downtimes.
Senior Director of Partnerships and Fleet Business at Battery Smart Yogiraj Gogia was excited about the partnership. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Zepto to support environmentally responsible last-mile delivery and inspire additional delivery partners to adopt the EV revolution.” Zepto’s remarkable success over the last year is praiseworthy, and we expect additional growth as they add more EVs to their fleet and have access to our growing network of swap stations,” he said.
Zepto’s COO, Vikas Sharma, emphasized the company’s dedication to electrifying its fleet of vehicles in order to provide effective and sustainable last-mile delivery services. He emphasized that the alliance will guarantee that their delivery partners are constantly in proximity to a swap station. Being close will cut down on wait times and allow them to finish more deliveries, which would eventually increase revenue.
By 2030, the government wants to see thirty percent of India’s vehicle fleet electrified. Currently, electric vehicles (EVs) make up a sizeable twenty percent of the country’s last-mile delivery industry.
Across multiple cities across Haryana, NCR, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and, most recently, Maharashtra, Battery Smart has placed strategically placed stations. With its 2019 founding, Battery Smart seeks to make the adoption of EVs easier. In more than 30 locations, they have worked with over 45,000 automobiles, installed over 1000 swap stations, and performed over 35 million battery changes.
