Blue Energy Motors, a pioneer in sustainable heavy-duty transportation, has achieved a significant milestone with its fleet of liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered trucks collectively covering over 50 million kilometers on Indian highways. This achievement has resulted in a reduction of more than 14,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, equivalent to the annual carbon absorption of approximately 560,000 mature trees.
The company’s LNG trucks offer up to 30% lower CO₂ emissions compared to traditional diesel vehicles, along with significant reductions in particulate matter and nitrogen oxide emissions. These environmental benefits are particularly impactful in long-haul logistics, where sustained operations maximize the advantages of cleaner fuel alternatives.
Blue Energy Motors is not only focusing on LNG technology but is also preparing to introduce electric heavy-duty trucks for short-haul operations. This dual approach aims to address both immediate and long-term sustainability goals in the commercial transportation sector. The company has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Maharashtra to develop clean transport infrastructure, including LNG refueling stations, further supporting India’s transition to green mobility.
CEO Anirudh Bhuwalka emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainable change, stating that the milestone reflects the growing footprint of green energy trucks in the ecosystem. He highlighted that the 14,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions saved underscore the transformative potential of LNG-powered trucks in decarbonizing logistics.
To support its expansion plans, Blue Energy Motors aims to raise $100 million to scale up production capacity. The company plans to triple its LNG truck sales to 3,000 units in the next financial year and is set to launch its first electric truck soon. With a manufacturing facility in Pune capable of producing up to 10,000 trucks annually, Blue Energy Motors is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions.
As India strives to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070, Blue Energy Motors’ advancements in LNG and electric truck technologies represent a significant step toward reducing the environmental impact of the country’s commercial transportation sector. By offering viable alternatives to diesel-powered vehicles, the company is playing a crucial role in driving the nation’s green mobility transition.
