BMW Debrecen Plant Prepares for Launch of Neue Klasse EVs

BMW Group’s state-of-the-art factory in Debrecen has reached a major milestone with the start of test vehicle production for its Neue Klasse electrified automobiles. The first near-series fully-electric X vehicles are leaving the assembly line as the facility moves into its final phase of preparation for series production, which is scheduled to begin in late 2025.

“The production of the first test vehicles in Debrecen is a significant milestone in commissioning the new plant,” said Milan Nedeljković, BMW AG’s manufacturing board member.

As part of BMW’s careful preparation, test cars go through whole production cycles to maximize labor operations, manufacturing systems, and logistics. To make sure every component meets the exacting standards specified by the automaker, every step of manufacture and part delivery is evaluated in real-world scenarios.

Daily deliveries of materials and components support this pre-production phase, which involves a thorough evaluation of digital networking technologies and state-of-the-art systems. Based on the knowledge gained from these tests, more enhancements will be implemented in the next months, with a focus on optimizing quality and efficacy.

New personnel are thoroughly trained on state-of-the-art tools and processes during the ramp-up phase. Priority is being given to seamless coordination between production divisions to guarantee a seamless transition into full-scale series manufacturing.

BMW’s dedication to promoting electric mobility is demonstrated by this historic Debrecen development, and the Neue Klasse is expected to be a key component of the automaker’s sustainable transportation program.
