A significant milestone in the company’s journey towards electric mobility has been reached with the shipment of the first sixth-generation electric engines from the BMW Group Plant Steyr in Austria to the BMW Group Plant in Debrecen, Hungary. These e-motors will power the Neue Klasse test vehicles, a significant step toward series production.
The electric drivetrain systems were installed at the Steyr facility just ten months ago. Since September, our factory has been supplying these cutting-edge electric engines to Munich’s development team,” stated Klaus von Moltke, Senior Vice President of Engine Production at BMW AG and Managing Director of the Steyr site. “At the moment, they are being shipped directly to Debrecen for installation in test vehicles.”
BMW began manufacturing next-generation electric motors at Steyr three months ago, and since then, it has emerged as a global leader in engine manufacturing. Helmut Hochsteiner, the plant’s Vice President of Electric Engine Production, emphasized the need of progress, saying, “In the upcoming months, we will continue validating and optimizing the production process for these advanced e-motors.”
An important milestone in the strategy to create the Neue Klasse electric vehicle portfolio and its state-of-the-art e-motors in series has been reached with the cargo to Debrecen.
