BorgWarner has announced that it has finished buying the electric vehicle charging solution, smart grid, and smart energy businesses of Hubei Surpass Sun Electric (SSE).

The purchase is a significant step for BorgWarner’s electrification business in Asia and is anticipated to enhance its current charging infrastructure in Europe and North America.

Customers in China and more than 70 other countries can purchase patented electric vehicle charging solutions from SSE’s electrification business. SSE has overseen the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of more than 250 charging station sites and has delivered over 50,000 charging points.

It is anticipated that BorgWarner’s current electrification and charging capabilities in Europe and North America will be complemented by SSE’s capabilities in China.

“This transaction makes good business sense as we continue to bolster our fast-charging capabilities globally,” said Frederic Lissalde, president and chief executive officer of BorgWarner. SSE will improve its services while assisting Charging Forward, our plan to hasten our electrification growth.
