Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and eMobility service provider IONAGE have partnered to enhance the country’s EV charging infrastructure. In a statement, the company said that the agreement would increase the convenience and accessibility of EV ownership nationwide by making it simpler for EV consumers to utilize BPCL electric vehicle (EV) chargers across the country via the IONAGE network.

Cooperating with BPCL aligns with our objective of democratizing the ecosystem for EV charging. Gaining the trust and confidence of electric car owners to allow them to take their vehicles on longer excursions requires establishing a collaborative relationship. By integrating BPCL’s extensive charger network into the IONAGE platform, the objective is to boost consumer confidence in the ecosystem, according to co-founder and CEO of IONAGE Vimal Kumar.

There are currently 12,146 operational public charging stations in India, with the highest number being found in Delhi and Maharashtra, with 1,886 and 3,079 outlets, respectively. This indicates a rapidly expanding market since it displays a noteworthy gain of about 640 percent over the preceding two years.

Government targets state that thirty percent of cars on the road should be electrified by 2030. According to him, the industry expects a significant shift in demand, with more installations in small and medium-sized enterprises and residential complexes.
