Chinese electric‑vehicle maker BYD announced it will open its first Croatian showroom on Savska Street in Zagreb by month’s end, alongside an authorized service centre to support local customers.
The launch, reported by Poslovni Dnevnik, marks BYD’s formal entry into Croatia as part of its broader European expansion. Two additional showrooms are slated to open in Split and Dubrovnik before year’s end.
Speaking to Croatian media, Ambassador Qi Qianjin said BYD’s electric models will start at about €30,000, making them an affordable choice for consumers seeking sustainable transportation.
Ambassador Qi hailed the showroom opening as a new milestone in Croatia‑China ties, likening it to the Pelješac Bridge project as proof of successful bilateral cooperation.
Trade between Croatia and China reached $2.96 billion in 2024, with Croatian exports to China up 92.7%. Tourism also flourished, with 249,000 Chinese visitors recorded last year—a number expected to climb under Croatia’s visa‑free policy for Chinese nationals.
“BYD’s arrival is not just about cars — it represents another bridge between our nations,” Qi said, adding that the new showrooms underscore Croatia’s embrace of next‑generation electric mobility and strengthen people‑to‑people ties.
