The Cadillac LYRIQ became a dominant force in the luxury electric vehicle (EV) market by topping its segment in sales throughout the United States during the first three quarters of 2024. The success of the LYRIQ, which sold more than 20,000 units between January and September, demonstrates the growing desire for all-electric luxury SUVs that balance performance, cost, and range.
California led with about 3,000 units sold, closely followed by Texas and Florida, each of which sold over 2,000 units. Buyers are drawn to the LYRIQ because of its sleek design, EPA-estimated 314-mile range, and low starting MSRP of $58,590. Its ability to boost range by up to 77 miles in just 10 minutes using public DC fast charging has further cemented its appeal among EV enthusiasts.
Examples of innovation include the Cadillac Super Cruise’s hands-free driving assistance system and the LYRIQ’s sophisticated interior, which blends comfort with cutting-edge technology.
This accomplishment opens the door for Cadillac’s expanding electric car lineup. By the end of 2024, the portfolio will include the entry-level OPTIQ SUV and the ultra-luxury ESCALADE IQ SUV. When the three-row VISTIQ SUV debuts in 2025, Cadillac will be among the few automakers with an all-electric premium SUV in every market.
General Motors ambitious EV strategy, which included the LYRIQ, contributed to the company’s 2024 sales of 300,000 EVs. With the introduction of the high-performance LYRIQ-V in 2026, Cadillac will be in a strong position to maintain its position as the market leader in luxury EVs.
