ChargePoint and General Motors have partnered to construct up to 500 ultra-fast charging stations in strategic locations around the United States. The new charging stations, which will be marketed under the GM Energy brand, will be open to the public by the end of 2025, hastening the country’s transition to electric cars.

The project will incorporate ChargePoint’s cutting-edge Omni Port system, which supports both CCS and NACS charging connections. By eliminating the need for adapters or designated parking spaces, this innovation offers EV users an unprecedented level of flexibility. Several of the locations will also have access to ChargePoint’s Express Plus platform, which provides blazingly fast charging speeds of up to 500kW.

“ChargePoint and GM will work together to deliver a faultless rapid charging experience through reliable charging hardware managed by our industry-leading software platform,” said Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint.

The partnership also introduces an incentive program to help third-party charge point operators (CPOs) construct DC fast chargers. This initiative aims to speed up the infrastructure development process from site selection and permitting to construction and installation.

This strategic agreement demonstrates the two companies’ commitment to building EV infrastructure and improving accessibility for EV drivers nationwide. Throughout the deployment, ChargePoint and GM will work closely with site hosts and operators to ensure the program’s success.
