Chevrolet has expanded its 2026 Silverado EV lineup with the introduction of the Trail Boss trim, an off-road-focused version designed to enhance capability and range. The Trail Boss includes a 2-inch lift, 35-inch all-terrain tires, and 18-inch wheels, along with a GM-estimated maximum range of 478 miles when equipped with the top-tier battery. It features Sidewinder mode for diagonal driving and a trim-exclusive Terrain mode for improved control on uneven trails through sharper four-wheel steering.
The Trail Boss is powered by an electric drivetrain delivering 725 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque. It offers a towing capacity of 12,500 pounds and a payload capacity of 2,100 pounds. Chevrolet has also integrated enhanced Super Cruise for hands-free highway driving, even while towing. Pricing for the base Silverado EV has been reduced to $54,895, while the Trail Boss starts at $72,095 for the extended range and $88,695 for the max range version.
The Trail Boss benefits from Chevrolet’s racing program, particularly the Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept, which shares approximately 98% of its parts with production vehicles. This connection ensures that real-world testing data translates directly to enhancements in the Trail Boss, providing consumers with a vehicle capable of handling challenging terrains.
Design elements specific to the Trail Boss include red tow hooks, a black front panel to handle trail scratches, and a “Trail Boss” inscription on the C-pillar. The vehicle also features a dual-tone Habanero Orange-black color scheme and an illuminated brand logo on the hood.
The Trail Boss is built on GM’s Ultium platform and is expected to include features like locking differentials and possibly the Hummer EV’s Crab Walk feature. While specific power figures for the production Trail Boss remain under wraps, the race concept demonstrates the platform’s potential with a tri-motor system generating 1,100 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque.
The 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss is set to arrive in dealerships this summer, offering consumers an electric pickup that combines off-road capability with advanced technology. With its factory lift, aggressive tires, and innovative Terrain Mode, the Trail Boss aims to redefine what’s possible in the off-road segment.
