Circle K has inaugurated its first electric vehicle (EV)-only charging convenience site in Gårda, near central Gothenburg, Sweden, marking a significant milestone in the company’s global transition to electric mobility. The new facility features ten ultra-fast 400 kW chargers and a 100-square-meter convenience store, making it the largest EV-only site in Circle K’s international network.
Strategically located near the E6 motorway—a major transportation corridor with over 100,000 vehicles passing daily—the Gårda site is designed to provide a premium charging experience for EV drivers. The chargers can power a vehicle from 0 to 80% in approximately 15 minutes, allowing drivers to recharge quickly while enjoying the store’s offerings.
The convenience store offers a full retail experience, including fresh pizza, kebabs, award-winning sausages, Wi-Fi, and ample seating, creating a comfortable and inviting space for travelers and locals alike.
Hans-Olav Høidahl, Executive Vice President of European Operations and Global eMobility at Circle K, emphasized the significance of the launch: “Our new location at Gårda marks a significant step in our ambition to win the EV customer—offering easy and convenient charging with a complete retail experience. With ultra-fast chargers, great food and beverage options, Wi-Fi, and ample seating, the site has been designed to meet our customers’ needs. It’s a safe harbor on the road, and a clear step forward in our ambition to be the preferred on-the-go charging destination across Europe.”
The Gårda station’s opening aligns with Circle K’s broader strategy to expand its EV charging infrastructure across Europe and North America. The company aims to combine innovative technology, sustainable energy, and customer-focused design to make EV journeys as seamless as possible.
With over 16,700 locations globally, Circle K is uniquely positioned to support the growing transition to electric mobility. The launch of the Gårda EV-only station underscores the company’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions and its vision for the future of transportation.
