Circle K has inaugurated its first electric vehicle (EV) charging-only station in Europe, located in the Garda district near central Gothenburg. This site is the largest EV-only charging convenience hub in Circle K’s global network, featuring ten ultra-fast 400 kW chargers and a 100 m² (1,076 ft²) convenience store.
Strategically positioned along Sweden’s E6 motorway, which accommodates over 100,000 vehicles daily, the Gårda station aims to serve the increasing number of EV drivers and the more than 10,000 individuals working in the vicinity. The high-powered chargers can replenish most vehicles from 0 to 80% in approximately 15 minutes.
The charging infrastructure, supplied by Kempower, includes two 600 kW Power Units and ten Single Satellite chargers. These are equipped with an enhanced Autocharge feature, allowing returning users to initiate charging automatically upon plugging in, streamlining the process by eliminating the need for repeated authentication.
While vehicles charge, customers can utilize the on-site convenience store, which offers a variety of food options such as fresh pizza, kebab, and award-winning sausage. The store also provides Wi-Fi and ample seating, creating a comfortable environment for patrons during their charging sessions.
Hans-Olav Hoidahl, Executive Vice President of European Operations and Global eMobility at Circle K, stated, “Our new location at Garda marks a significant step in our ambition to win the EV customer—offering easy and convenient charging with a complete retail experience.”
This launch follows Circle K’s recent opening of its largest EV charging hub in Järna, Sweden, which features 26 ultra-fast chargers for both light and heavy vehicles. With over 3,000 branded chargers across Europe and approximately 17,000 locations worldwide, Circle K continues to expand its infrastructure to meet the growing demand for electric mobility.
