Continental, a leading global tire manufacturer, has solidified its position in the electric vehicle (EV) market by supplying original equipment tires to 18 of the world’s top 20 EV manufacturers. This impressive list includes industry giants such as BYD, Geely, Volkswagen, NIO, Mercedes-Benz, and Renault.
The company’s influence spans across major regions, establishing partnerships with nine of the top ten EV producers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) areas. This widespread collaboration underscores Continental’s role as a trusted supplier in the rapidly evolving electric mobility sector.
According to data from the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), electric vehicles now account for one in every five cars sold globally. This surge in EV adoption highlights the increasing demand for specialized components, particularly tires optimized for electric performance.
Manja Greimeier, Head of Continental’s Tires Original Equipment Business, emphasized the company’s commitment to enhancing the EV driving experience. “The high level of trust placed in Continental original equipment tires by electric vehicle manufacturers worldwide confirms: We offer our customers an inspiring driving experience,” Greimeier stated. She further noted that EVs require tires with particularly low rolling resistance for maximum range, quiet rolling noise for enhanced comfort, and uncompromised safety—qualities that Continental strives to deliver.
