One of the biggest commercial contracts for Volvo’s electric vehicles was recently signed by the worldwide logistics giant DSV and Volvo vehicles, who will work together to supply 300 electric heavy trucks. DSV is now among the biggest heavy electric truck operators in Europe as a result of this deal. The new Volvo FH Aero Electric model, renowned for its improved aerodynamics and higher energy efficiency, will be seen on the trucks used by DSV.
DSV is moving closer to a sustainable future in transportation, moving more than 20,000 trucks every day throughout the world. These will become more and more electric or fuelled by renewable resources. DSV and Volvo Trucks are coordinating the implementation of these 300 electric trucks with zero emissions throughout their European operations.
The arrangement also covers the acquisition of 500 Volvo trucks, which are expected to be delivered between 2024 and 2026 and outfitted with extremely efficient gas and diesel drivelines.
The President of Volvo Trucks, Roger Alm, took great delight in strengthening the relationship with DSV. He emphasized the need for cooperation in order to significantly reduce CO2 emissions and promote sustainable transportation. He emphasized this purchase as proof of DSV’s faith in Volvo and the viability of zero-emission transportation options.
In his remarks, DSV Road CEO Soren Schmidt stressed the need of cross-sector cooperation in the fight against climate change and hailed the company’s expanded partnership with Volvo as a vital first step in cutting emissions in the transportation sector. He pointed to this agreement as an excellent illustration of how new technology may be expanded to improve consumer accessibility and promote the trucking industry’s shift to greener practices.
DSV, the biggest cargo carrier for the Volvo Group, already runs electric Volvo trucks in Sweden and Denmark, backed by solar-powered charging stations at its distribution centers in these nations. Volvo Group and DSV both support the Science-based Targets project, which aims to match their bold climate initiatives with the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
Over 3,800 electric trucks have been supplied by Volvo Trucks to customers in 46 countries since 2019. Eight models of Volvo’s broad range of electric vehicles are intended for a variety of uses, including construction, regional transport, trash management, and urban distribution. The combined operating mileage of Volvo’s electric trucks is over 90 million kilometers, or 2,200 full rotations of the earth.
