The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has announced plans to restart its interstate bus operations, reconnecting the national capital with key cities across neighboring states. This move is expected to enhance regional connectivity and provide a reliable transport option for daily commuters and travelers.
DTC’s interstate services had been suspended for over three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and related restrictions. With conditions now stabilized and demand on the rise, the corporation is preparing to reinstate routes to cities including Agra, Jaipur, Haridwar, and Dehradun.
According to DTC officials, all the resumed routes will be operated using non-AC low-floor buses to ensure affordability and comfort. The buses will depart from the Kashmere Gate and Anand Vihar ISBTs, which are being upgraded for smoother operations and passenger convenience.
DTC has also stated that its resumption strategy includes modern ticketing systems and real-time tracking to enhance the travel experience. The corporation plans to closely monitor ridership and may introduce additional services depending on passenger demand.
The revival of interstate services is part of a broader push by Delhi’s transport department to strengthen public mobility infrastructure. DTC is also in the process of expanding its electric bus and CNG bus fleet within the city, aligning with Delhi’s clean mobility goals.
By resuming these intercity routes, DTC aims to reestablish its role as a critical public transport provider across the NCR and northern India. The services are set to benefit office-goers, students, and tourists, offering an economical and accessible alternative to private travel.
