Through their continuous metropolitan charging partnership, EVgo Inc. and General Motors have installed more than 2,000 public fast charging stations. As part of a long-standing partnership, EVgo and GM have installed fast charging stalls in over 390 locations in 45 metropolitan markets across 32 states. These locations include grocery stores, retail centers, and city centers, and they also serve customers who are unable to charge at home or at work, such as renters and residents of multifamily housing.
EVgo and GM are well on their way to finishing 2,850 DC fast charging stalls nationwide, including 400 public fast charging stalls at flagship locations across major metropolitan markets in states like Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New York, and Texas. Their 2,000th stall is currently open. In August 2023, the companies celebrated the opening of their 1,000th public fast charging stall in the Chicago suburb of Woodbridge, Illinois. In 2024, they doubled their EV charging footprint in less than a year.
The 2,000th space for EVgo and GM is a part of a recently opened station with five 350kW rapid chargers that can serve up to ten vehicles at once. This charging station is conveniently situated off Interstate 215 and provides drivers with a number of local facilities, such as retail shopping alternatives, coffee shops, and dining establishments in Murrieta, California. The California Energy Commission provided financing for this site through its FAST initiative.
As we prepare to launch our first flagship locations next year, we are excited to commemorate today’s milestone of reaching 2,000 fast charging stalls constructed through this program. “EVgo’s longstanding collaboration with GM has helped us bring public charging to communities in more than 30 states across the U.S.,” said EVgo President Dennis Kish.
Wade Sheffer, vice president of GM Energy, stated, “Our partnership with EVgo demonstrates our commitment to giving EV drivers the greatest experience possible by extending fast charging infrastructure nationwide.” “We are excited to keep providing first-rate charging experiences for many years to come.”
