Customers of General Motors may now access over 17,800 Tesla Superchargers in North America, marking a substantial development in the EV charging infrastructure. With a GM-approved NACS DC converter, owners of GM EVs will now have quick and simple access to charging expediting the transition to fully electric vehicles.
With this success, GM customers can now utilize about 231,800 public chargers, including DC fast chargers and Level 2 chargers. More growth is expected as GM keeps expanding its charging partnerships in key areas and traffic routes. The Tesla Supercharger Network will first be available to American customers, Canadian customers will be able to access it later this year.
Vice President of GM Energy Wade Sheffer stated, “GM’s continuous efforts to help accelerate the expansion of public charging infrastructure is an integral part of our commitment to an all-electric future.” “Adding more publicly accessible fast chargers to the mix is just one more way GM is committed to enhancing customer satisfaction and facilitating the smooth transition to electric vehicles.”
The GM vehicle brand mobile apps will allow users to buy the $225 USD MSRP of GM’s NACS DC adapters. With these apps, customers will find it easy to manage payments, locate Tesla Superchargers, start charging sessions, and keep track of station status.
To meet the anticipated demand, GM plans to work with a number of suppliers to produce NACS DC converters. This would ensure that Tesla Superchargers and other charging stations that employ the North American Charging Standard (NACS) will consistently work with GM EVs.
