In order to promote the use of electric vehicles (EVs), the Sirmaur district will receive up to 100 charging stations.
All sub-divisional magistrates have been instructed by RK Gautam, Deputy Commissioner of Sirmaur, to determine the locations for these stations. All SDMs have been instructed to submit a report detailing any potential locations for such EV charging stations.
He stated that 50 kilowatt charging stations would be built near bus stops and on state highways, where cars could be fully charged in 15 to 60 minutes.
Government buildings will have stations that can charge cars in two to four hours, while private homes will have stations that can charge cars for eight to ten hours. The ability to house larger EV charging stations requires the presence of 11 kv power lines.
To help EV users, the DC has ordered the officials to install small charging stations inside their workplaces. “EVs would gradually replace government vehicles, and condemned vehicles would also be replaced with EVs.”
In an effort to conserve fuel and reduce the environmental pollution brought on by the use of gasoline and diesel vehicles, the state is implementing a “Go Green” strategy in which the state government vehicles are being replaced by EVs. The transport division has transitioned entirely to EVs as of now.
By 2025, efforts are being made, according to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, to make Himachal the country’s first “Green Energy State.”
