Greaves Electric Mobility, the e-mobility division of Greaves Cotton, reported a significant increase in electric two-wheeler sales under its Ampere brand in January. According to data from the Vahan portal, the company sold 3,611 units during the month, securing the fifth position among India’s top-selling electric two-wheeler brands.
This performance represents a 53% year-over-year growth and a 27% month-over-month increase, primarily driven by the popularity of its premium family electric scooters, the Nexus and Magnus Neo. Overall retail growth for Ampere, including slow-speed vehicles, was 38% month-over-month, surpassing the industry average.
The Magnus Neo, an updated version of the acclaimed Ampere Magnus, features several enhancements in style, power, strength, savings, and safety. Equipped with a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, it offers a certified range of over 100 km, a portable battery solution, and a charging time of 5-6 hours. The company also introduced the Nexus scooter earlier in 2024, boasting high performance and family-oriented features, including a top speed of 93 km/h and a certified range of 136 km. Both models have been recognized in the India Book of Records for their launch journeys across the country, highlighting their performance and durability.
In addition to its success in the two-wheeler segment, Greaves Electric Mobility’s subsidiary, MLR Auto, a key player in the electric three-wheeler (L5 category) market, achieved a 52% month-over-month growth, selling 665 units. Another subsidiary, Ele, operating in the e-rickshaw segment, reported notable sales in recent months, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, where it experienced a 21% quarter-over-quarter growth.
