Hero MotoCorp is developing a performance electric motorcycle in partnership with a California-based maker of luxury electric motorcycles and powertrains. Hero MotoCorp’s first e-motorcycle is expected to be on sale in FY2026, however the precise date is yet uncertain.
In March 2023, the two companies agreed to work together to produce luxury electric motorcycles.
Even though e-scooters—which are dominated by Ola Electric, TVS Motor Co, Bajaj Auto, and Hero MotoCorp—meet the majority of India’s demand for electric two-wheelers, consumer demand for electric motorcycles is steadily growing.
Given the lack of options in the Indian electric motorcycle industry, Hero MotoCorp will attempt to achieve traction with its middleweight e-bike, which it co-developed with Zero Motorcycles.
The collaboration essentially blends Zero Motorcycles’ expertise in powertrain research and electric motorcycles with Hero MotoCorp’s production, procurement, and marketing skills. The biggest two-wheeler manufacturer in the world is Hero MotoCorp.
The demand for Hero MotoCorp’s Vida series of e-scooters is rising. Hero MotoCorp was the last significant heritage company to enter the Indian EV market, behind Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Co.
Hero MotoCorp has started to raise awareness of the Vida brand, and as of right now, its network consists of 180 dealers dispersed across 116 locations and 203 touchpoints. By FY2025, the company plans to expand its portfolio, which includes the V1 Plus and V1 Pro EVs, into the mid- and low-cost market. Hero MotoCorp is also an early investor in Ather Energy, with whom it has partnered to construct over 2,500 charging stations.
